Chris’s 2009 maybe-I’ll-read-these list:
Dante’s Divine Comedy -started 1/25/09, finished 2/12/09
Charles Williams’ The Figure of Beatrice
Milton’s Paradise Lost (I may will not get to this one)
Jared Diamond’s Guns, Germs, and Steel (done)
Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy (which I have read before, but it’s been over a decade.) (started, 2/21/2009; finished 3/17/2009)
Defoe’s Further Adventures of Robinson Crusoe (the first of two sequels)
Sterne’s Tristram Shandy (started 3/18/09; finished 4/21/2009)
Cervantes’ Don Quixote
Robert Nozick’s Anarchy, State, and Utopia (added 1/22/09 - this is me being foolish; I’ll probably not get to this one until 2010, if ever. But I might surprise myself.)
Mark Danielewski’s House of Leaves was recommended to me recently, and it looks interesting, but it’s also long and dense. My reading-for-pleasure year in going to end in August, so I’m going to have to start choosing carefully.
